If you’re using a Dell Mini 9″ (OSX) and an external monitor, and you click “Turn on Mirroring” in the Displays menu you’ll goose your external monitor! Be warned!!
Thankfully a guy called Fabien Canas wrote an app which will fix this. And user Joshua’s comments (half way down the page) helped me fix my issue.
Thanks guys :)
My latest phone is a HTC Magic, powered by Android. I like this phone a lot and it’s great for busy people (like me) as there are many apps to keep track of Twitter, RSS, the weather etc. (via Android Market) while on the go. Plus mobile GMail, GTalk and GMaps.
Thanks to a great guide by mechdrew, I was able to install OSX on my Dell Mini (Inspiron 910). And after a couple of days of troubleshooting e.g. couldn’t mount .dmg files, codec overrun issues etc., I’m writing this post from my Dell Mini running 10.5.7!
For any issues with .dmg files not mounting, or issues with USB sticks, drives etc., see here.
Don’t use the Mac’s Software update to update to the latest version of OSX
The key to fixing the USB issues etc., is to update to 10.5.7 or 10.5.8 right after you’ve installed OSX from your retail disc. How to do this is in the guide.
And if you run into “codec overrun” issues, it could be to do with your router’s firewall and how it’s not downloading all packets of data required for each installation file. To fix this disable SPI. This worked for me :)
